If ever you get the message that you don’t have permission to write to your Caseware directory, please follow the following steps to change security settings. You only have to do this on you main Caseware folder which is located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\
  1. Right click on your Caseware folder and select Properties.
  1. Select the Security tab and scroll to the following groups or user names in the top window and make sure all these listed have full rights which is indicated in the Allow column
  • Your Name
  • Administrators
  • Users
  • TrustedInstaller
  1. If all the items do not have full control, click on Advanced
  2. On the next window, if the Owner is not your name and for instance System, you will need to change it, so click on Change
  1. As indicated below, enter Everyone in the block and Check Names, after which you select Everyone
  1. On the next screen, select the areas as indicated and click Apply and after that OK
  1. You should now be set and have the necessary rights added to your Caseware folder
