
Executive Summary
This hotfix contains a fix where XBRL submissions to CIPC is failing. We have made changes to the Mandatory page and it also aligns the CW Validation to the CIPC portal. Running this hotfix will not cause any loss of data within your financials.
Install Instructions:
- Download the hotfix
- Close all instances of Caseware and CaseView
- Run the hotfix
- Open the Financials, go to Options | Enable Special Features
- Type in CIPC2024 and click OK
- The changes will now take effect on this file.
- Scroll to the Type of auditor’s opinion and select the appropriate option.
- Scroll down to the “Business address, country” field and click on the cell to launch a new HTML. Click on the word “Loading…” within the drop-down, scroll down to the end and select “South Africa” which is the 7th last option.
- Take note of the following scenarios where this Enable Special Features code should be run:
- Run this per engagement file
- Run this on the template/ firm template so that it is fixed for any new files created going forward using any one of the following methods:
- File | New
- File | New from existing
- For files being updated using the financials update process, the code must be run on all updated files, even after running the hotfix on the template.
Additional insights as to the changes in the Mandatory page
- Type of auditor’s opinion
- This is no longer an input and/or no longer pulls from the Audit Report
- This has been changed to a drop-down and the applicable option should now be selected
- Business address, country
- CIPC has moved to the ISO Country Code from three characters to two characters, i.e. they do not accept ZAF anymore, it must be ZA.
- Caseware Working Papers 2024 should be installed
- One or multiple of the following templates should be installed
- SME Eng/Afr - 2024.01.02
- IFRS - 2024.02.02
- SME XBRL Lite - 2024.04.02
- IFRS XBRL Lite - 2024.05.02
- GRAP - 2024.10.02
- Click on the download button in order for the download the begin
- Then follow the Install instructions in the previous segment.
Who is the firm champion?
The "Firm's Champion" is the staff member responsible for rolling out the template to the users at the firm.
I do have a Caseware Africa Success Community login
If you are a firm champion, you will have access to your firm's unique download package by accessing the My Software page and clicking on the download packager icon (top right).
I do have a Caseware Africa Success Community login but cannot see the My Software option
You may request the file to be provided to you by your firm champion
Alternatively to obtain this access your firm champion will need to update your user permissions on the Content Management page once they have logged in. This page is available when selecting the My Team's Information option in the drop down menu. When clicking on the Manage button next the user's name, ensure that the Download Software checkbox is ticked. This will allow the user access to the My Software page.
I don't have a Caseware Africa Success Community login
If you are responsible for managing updates and don't have a login for the Caseware Africa Success Community, click on the Login button in the top right and then Register Now.

- Scroll to the “Description of nature of financial statements” line, in the drop-down menu, and select “Other (Please input details)”
- In the cell, remove the existing text (Other (Please input details)) and type in
- “Audited Annual Financial Statements” or
- “Audited Consolidated Annual Financial Statements”
- Take note of the capitalisation to ensure successful validation
- Scroll down to the “Business address, country” field and click on the cell to launch a new HTML. Click on the word “Loading…” within the drop-down, scroll down to the end and select “South Africa” which is the 7th last option.
- Take note of the following scenarios where this Enable Special Features code should be run:
- Run this per engagement file
- Run this on the template/ firm template so that it is fixed for any new files created going forward using any one of the following methods:
