What is Caseware Internal Audit?

  Instructions:

Caseware Internal Audit is a cloud-based solution built on Caseware Cloud, designed to enable internal audit functions to plan, execute, and monitor assurance work in full alignment with the 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards. It connects two purpose-built applications, IA Governance and IA Engagements, to deliver an end-to-end workflow from strategy and methodology development to detailed engagement execution and follow-up.

Caseware Internal Audit is designed to eliminate fragmentation across an internal audit function. Instead of relying on separate tools for strategy, methodology, planning, fieldwork, and reporting, the solution creates one cohesive ecosystem where:

  • Governance and methodologies flow directly into engagement templates.
  • Engagement results flow back into governance for tracking and follow-up.
  • Audit teams collaborate in real time, within a consistent structure.
  • All documentation is stored securely in one auditable environment.

This integrated design ensures traceability, standardisation, and conformance with internal audit standards across the entire function.

Unlike generic audit tools, Caseware Internal Audit is aligned with the purpose, principles, and requirements of the 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards. The solution supports the internal audit function’s responsibilities across:

  • Organisational independence and mandate (via the IA Mandate and Charter)
  • Purposeful internal audit strategy and direction
  • Risk-based planning and audit universe management
  • Consistent methodologies and structured engagement execution
  • Evidence-based reporting and follow-up
  • Ongoing monitoring and improvement activities

Each design element reflects internal audit’s need for objectivity, traceability, defensibility, and standardisation.

At its core, Caseware Internal Audit combines two purpose-built applications:

  • IA Governance – the environment where internal audit methodologies, governance documents, audit universes, strategies, risks, plans and the QAIP are defined and managed.
  • IA Engagements – the workspace where auditors perform the detailed work of each audit engagement through the full lifecycle: pre-engagement, planning, conducting, and concluding.
