Probe | How to update Probe firm template (Firm champion only)

Prerequisites:

1. Ensure your file is on the latest template version, check your version number here.
2. Compare this version number to the latest Probe template released by Caseware Africa here.
3. If you don't have the latest Login to the Community and access you download here.

Follow these steps to update Probe firm template:

• Launch Caseware Working Papers and click on Templates | Select the firm template and click on Edit.
• On opening the file, the update wizard will appear. If you are updating to 2025.20.13, do not click update yet. Cancel this message. 
• Go in to document 10.20 and ensure the framework is selected in line with the template being created, IFRS or IFRS for SMEs. 
• Go in to document 10.51, and enable all sections. 
• These two selections will ensure that the Probe Optimiser has the desired effect on your firm template. 
• Click on the update wizard and select the Probe update. Tick the box to declare that you have made a backup and wish to continue. 
• Update process will take place.

Update will retain data.

Using PPE work program as an example:

1. PPE work program before update
2. PPE work program after update (data retained)

NB: New procedures/changes will occur due to compliance update. Make changes to the firm template (documents) once update is complete. e.g. Add procedures to the PPE work program.
 

Run data retention:

• Open Probe firm settings document| 
• At the bottom of the document, click on “Data Retention”. 
• Data retention process will take place

Repackage template

After creating new file based on firm template, it will show the changes made on the firm template.

Ensure you disable all sections on document 10.51 before repackaging your template.
