Objective

The objective of this document is to assist you in preparing the audit budget at planning stage and subsequently comparing it to actual results.

Document 10.40 – Time budget can be found in the Pre-engagement planning folder in the Caseware document manager.

Document content

This document is designed to be a worksheet type document with space for recording the planned and actual time spent on the audit sections, for each team member.
Before completing this document, you must set up users in Caseware.
This is done in Protection Setup.
Refer to the guidance in Collaboration – Set protection.

Layout

COLUMN	INPUT REQUIRED	OUTCOME
Insert row	Click on the icon to add another row for the section.	No impact on the engagement file.
Delete row	This functionality is only available after extra rows have been added. Click on the icon to remove the extra row.	No impact on the engagement file.
Responsible person	Select the responsible person from the drop-down box. This will only work once users have been set up correctly in Caseware as explained above.	No impact on the engagement file.
Detail	No input required in this column. The full name of the person appears based on the responsible person selected.	No impact on the engagement file.
Rate	No input required in this column. The hourly rate for the responsible person, as set up in Caseware protection setup, displays here.	No impact on the engagement file.
Planned Units	Record the number of hours planned to perform the procedures.	No impact on the engagement file.
Planned Cost	No input required in this column. The cost is automatically calculated by Rate x Planned Units	No impact on the engagement file.
Actual Units	Record the number of hours spent when the procedures were performed.	No impact on the engagement file.
Actual Cost	No input required in this column. The actual cost is automatically calculated by Rate x Actual Units.	No impact on the engagement file.
