How to resolve error C100
Published: 31/03/2021
You will receive this error when you open your Financial Statements/Information Store in Caseware. In order to work on a file successfully, a template needs to be installed following the correct procedures and it needs to be licensed. If a template is not installed or was installed without the user having full administrator rights to their PC or not installing the software in Safe Mode on the anti-virus, an Error C100 will be encountered. There are multiple solutions to resolve this error as found below.
Instructions:
1. Confirming that a Template has been Successfully Installed
Double-click on the Caseware Working Papers shortcut on the desktop to open the application
On the left-hand side of the screen, you will see a panel with multiple options
Select Templates – a pop-up dialog will appear showing the templates that are installed on your computer. If you do not see the template you are looking for then it has not been installed.
You will then need to install the latest template on your PC.
2. Inserting the Install Keys in the Firm Settings
If the template is installed on the PC and you are getting the Error C100 warning you might need to license the template.
Navigate to the firm settings within the document manager
Once it is open select the
Enable Special Features
tab
Click on
Activate
next to Other
It will request a Password – The password will be the install key for the entity you want to register and this key can be found on your license statement. If you do not have your company's License Statement, please contact your Caseware Champion or Renewal Contact. They would need to log into the community and go to the "My Licenses" section to find the License Statement that contains a list of the install codes.
If you have multiple entities that you need to register you will need to repeat this process for each entity.
Once the keys have been entered, open the Information Store and select an entity from the drop-down
Open the Financials and see if the warning message has been cleared, you can now make changes to the Financials.
3. Running the Error C100 Patch
If the steps above do not resolve the issue you will need to contact the Support team and ask them to send you the Error C100 patch.
Once you have the patch
Copy it into your document manager under the Information Store. You can either drag and drop it into the file or copy and paste it.
The name of the file will change once it is copied into the file
Double-click on the file and a window will open
Click
run patch | save | close the window
Open the
Information Store
and select an entity, if there are no entities to select please refer to the steps above on inserting install keys.
Open the Financials and check if the warning message has been cleared, you can now make changes to the financials.
4. Reinstall your Templates
Ensure you have full admin rights or that you are assisted by an IT personnel with full admin rights
Ensure you have added Caseware Working Papers to your anti virus safe software list or that you are assisted by an IT personnel with access to do this
Reinstall your templates from your firm's templates
