How to Package your firm template?
Instructions:
Package your firm template
In this step you will be guided on how to package your firm template.
You will set defaults
You will create libraries for your content
You will create the firm template install set
Set/ Check defaults
Use this option to turn on/off multiple pages at once
a. Document > >Configuration > Document Structure
i. Let’s you turn on/off multiple pages in the financial statements at once
Packaging the Firm Template
Before packaging the Firm Template, copy the Operating Name field from the Engagement Properties dialogue. This name will be used when packaging the Firm Template and will assist in identifying the Firm Template.
You now need to remove the firm template guide from your document manager as you don’t want to give all users access to the features in this document.
It allows people to change the design mode password, etc
From the CaseWare Menu, select Tools | Templates
Select “Add” and browse to locate of the Firm Template that has been created as a CaseWare file.
Once the file has been located select the CaseWare file (.ac).
The Firm Template will be added to the template list.
Select “Package” to launch the Create Template Package dialogue by clicking on Package
Click on “Next”.
Output File: Refers to the location the Firm Template will be created. Users may select “Browse” and change the Output file location to the desktop to easily locate the Firm Template once it has been created and is ready for distribution through the firm.
In the File Name field paste the Firm Template name for easy identification of the Firm Template.
Template Name: Refers to the name assigned to the Firm Template about to be created. It is recommended that this field be renamed to user defined name. Users should paste ‘Operating name’ from the Engagement Properties dialogue.
Allow this Template to be repackaged: Select this option to allow the Firm Template to be updated and repackaged when new updates to the template are available.
Click on “Finish” to begin packaging the Firm Template.
Click on “Close” to continue.
You can install and test the firm template before distributing it to your firm.
Test the Firm Template before distributing the template to the rest of the firm. As a minimum, this may include:
Using an existing file, update the file using the Create new file from client data option. When updating an existing file, select the Firm Template.
Update an existing file to the new Firm Template using the Update Wizard.
Print out the Financial Statements of the updated file that has been created based on the Firm Template.
Check that all the changes are correct and are now in line with the Firm Template.
