Data Store | How do I resolve "LDAP authentication failed"?

When opening a Caseware Working Papers file through Data Store the error message "LDAP authentication failed", how do I resolve this?

  Answer:

  • Click on Start | All Programs | Caseware Applications | Data Store Administration Tool
  • Select Active Directory
  • Type in the Data Store Administrator’s Password
  • This User Name and Password depends on the Administrator setup

  • Ensure the first 3 checkbox options are selected
  • Then click on Synchronize with Active Directory

  • If there are users not appearing on the list, the IT personnel will need to check their network setup.
  • Look for the users on the list who will use the Data Store and make sure the first 2 checkboxes are ticked.
  • The last tick box gets automatically ticked after successful connection of the Data Store by the user’s machine
  • Then click OK

  • Once the users have been setup via the Administrator
  • Go to Create/Connect
  • Then click Save

  • Place the connection file on a Network location where all the users can access it
  • Users must double click on the connection file which will open Caseware Working Papers automatically

  • The following message will appear, Click on Ok and close Caseware Working Papers

  • Click on File | Protection Setup
  • Type in the Administrator password, for example:  User Name: sup Password: sup

  • Ensure that the users assigned appears on the list

  • Go to the Group name on the list | Properties | and then ensure the following two ticks are marked
  • Then click OK

NOTE: If the "LDAP authentication failed" message still appears when opening Caseware Working Papers, then you will need to Reinstall the Template as the Templates used need to be the same on all the PC’s
