How to use calculated journals and linking calculation to MS excel.

  Answer:

  • On the Journal Entry screen in the Document Manager, select the ‘Calculated’ checkbox

  • Open the MS Excel workbook and copy the relevant cell that should be linked using either the right-click | Copy option or the ‘CTRL + C’ hotkey.
  • Paste the copied value in the ‘Calculation’ field using either the right-click | Paste or the ‘CTRL + V’ hotkey

  • A link to the MS Excel workbook will be created and the balance will be automated from the workbook

Note :The journal can be recalculated to update the journal to the latest balance using the Recalculate button or by selecting Tools | Recalculate Adjusting Journal Entries from the Caseware Menu.
